Beamsville GO Station Could Bring 48,000 New Transit Trips to Lincoln Ontario by 2041

Great news for Lincoln! A new GO station in Beamsville could significantly impact the community, attracting thousands of new transit users and boosting the local economy.

Metrolinx, in partnership with the Niagara Region, the Town of Lincoln, and a third-party partner, released and approved an Initial Business Case (IBC) for a proposed GO Station in Beamsville.

This is the first major step in the planning process, and it outlines what can be expected.

Where would the station be located?

The proposed station would be situated along the Lakeshore West Line, west of Ontario Street in Beamsville.

This places it conveniently between the proposed Grimsby GO station and the existing St. Catharines GO Station.

To maximize the benefits for our community, Metrolinx is exploring opportunities to develop the station through the Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) program.

This program focuses on creating vibrant, connected communities centered around transit hubs. What are the projected benefits?

The IBC highlights several key benefits, including:

•Increased Transit Use: The station could attract an impressive 48,000 net new annual trips to the GO network by 2041.

•Enhanced Connectivity:  Residents will enjoy better access to jobs, housing, and destinations across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

•Economic Growth: The station is projected to attract between 7,000 and 8,000 tourists annually by 2041, boosting local businesses and tourism.

•Sustainable Transportation: Providing a convenient alternative to driving, the station will help reduce traffic congestion and promote eco-friendly transportation options.

What amenities are being considered?

The proposed station could feature:

•GO customer parking

•A designated pick-up and drop-off area•Ample bicycle parking•Seamless connections to local and regional transit services

What’s next?

It’s important to note that the 2041 timeline refers to ridership projections, not necessarily the station’s completion date.

The actual construction timeline will be determined through the planning process and TOC project agreements.Community engagement is a top priority throughout this process.

Residents will have multiple opportunities to provide input and help shape the development of this exciting important project.

The release of the IBC marks a significant step towards bringing a GO station to Beamsville.

This project has the potential to transform our community, fostering economic growth, enhancing connectivity, and improving the quality of life for all residents.
