Province of Ontario to Hold Various Public Meetings on Regional Governance Review

To us at lincolnmain.ca there is nothing more important than engagement by residents and Town Councils in matters that affect them most. We know the Town of Lincoln is very active on many issues and this is one of them.

The provincial government is holding public meetings to gather feedback on the review of regional governance. The meetings will be held in St. Catharines, Burlington, Brampton, Ajax, Vaughan, and Kitchener.

The meetings will provide an opportunity for residents to learn about the review and to share their thoughts on how regional governance can be improved.

The review is being conducted by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The ministry has appointed a panel of experts to lead the review.

The panel will consider a variety of factors, including the efficiency and effectiveness of regional governance, the role of regional governments in economic development, and the impact of regional governance on local communities.

The panel will make recommendations to the government on how to improve regional governance. The government will consider the panel’s recommendations and will make a decision on how to proceed with the review.

The public meetings will be held on the following dates:

* St. Catharines: January 10, 2024

* Burlington: January 11, 2024

* Brampton: January 12, 2024

* Ajax: January 16, 2024

* Vaughan: January 17, 2024

* Kitchener: January 18, 2024

The meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will end at 9:00 p.m.

The meetings will be held at the following locations:

* St. Catharines: St. Catharines City Hall, 1 Civic Square, St. Catharines, ON L2R 7Z4

* Burlington: Burlington City Hall, 425 Brant Street, Burlington, ON L7R 4A1

* Brampton: Brampton City Hall, 50 Main Street East, Brampton, ON L6Y 4R5

* Ajax: Ajax City Hall, 1500 Harwood Avenue East, Ajax, ON L1S 1J8

* Vaughan: Vaughan City Hall, 10011 Jane Street, Vaughan, ON L4K 3V8

* Kitchener: Kitchener City Hall, 200 King Street West, Kitchener, ON N2G 4G7

If you would like to speak at a public meeting, you must register in advance. You can register online or by calling the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing at 1-888-337-5020.

If you are unable to attend a public meeting, you can submit written comments to the ministry. You can submit your comments online or by mail. The deadline for submitting written comments is January 18, 2024.
