Congratulations to the The Town of Lincoln!
The Town recently announced that they have come to an agreement to acquire the surplus property housing the former Beamsville District Secondary School (BDSS) site from the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) in June 2024.
This milestone marks the culmination of extensive discussions between the Town and the DSBN, outlining the future for the historic and cherished site.
Nestled at 4317 Central Avenue in Beamsville, BDSS has been an integral part of the Lincoln and West Niagara community since its establishment in 1888.
This is an important opportunity for the Town of Lincoln to take ownership of a property that is not only centrally located in Beamsville and within walking distance of many amenities and services, but one that is also rich in history. By purchasing the site, the Town will shape its future and they are excited about leading this transformational project.
With the Town of Lincoln commitment to the tagline ‘Preserve, Evolve, Thrive,’ they aim not only to embrace the rich heritage of this site but also to spearhead a new era of community benefits and sustainable growth.
The Town of Lincoln will work diligently with the Lincoln community and stakeholders to review potential plans for the future of the site. Based on the signed agreement, the Town will take ownership in January 2025.

Council is excited to hear from our residents as public feedback will be crucial in shaping the future of the former BDSS site.”
“This presents an important opportunity to take ownership of a property strategically positioned in the heart of Beamsville, with easy access to numerous amenities and services, and a rich historical background. The potential this site holds for our community is truly exciting,” said the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer Michael Kirkopoulos. “Council has directed staff to develop a business case that will be informed by community input. Together with Council, we aim to preserve the site’s historical significance while advancing our vision for sustainable growth and community well-being.”
“The Town of Lincoln and DSBN have long worked together with the community’s best interests at heart. Ensuring that the beautiful BDSS building stays part of local community is an excellent example of this collaborative partnership,” said Sue Barnett, DSBN Chair of the Board.
“Beamsville District Secondary School has been a valued part of the Town of Lincoln for over 130 years. Thousands of students have learned in that building with countless memories made and friendships formed. It’s an important piece of the community and we are pleased that the BDSS building will continue serving West Niagara in the years to come,” said Stacy Veld, DSBN Associate Director of Education, Corporate Services.
